Hey Will! This is so refreshing to read, and I think it's because I can relate to it so much. Walking with God can be so lonely, in the sense that you are called to be obedient to His word. And a majority of the time, other people's morals don't align with our Christian values. But I always remind myself on what Jesus said, there is a lot you will give up in this lifetime, but imagine what you will gain. <3
I'll be honest, I never click on links featured in Instagram stories. However, I felt compelled to when I clicked onto your Instagram story.
I needed this! Thank you! Everything you wrote about totally ressonates with me.
2020 was a lonely year for me but little did I know, right around the corner, I would find a small group of people who treat me like family and share the same values as I do.
This post was very good and enjoyable to read. Well done! I am very much enjoying your Biblical series. Another scripture that corresponds with Proverbs 17:17 and the message of your post is Proverbs 18:24, "One with many friends may be harmed, but there is a friend who stays closer than a brother." (CSB)
Thank you for all you shared in this post; there was a lot in it that I related with. I've been through quite a few seasons of loneliness, but I wouldn't change anything looking back now. I've learned that sometimes it is in those times that God is protecting us and desiring for us to grow closer to Him. I have also learned through those seasons that there are certain bonds of friendship that aren't easily changed by distance or time, but remain intact and become more precious.
Very good post Will! Am really enjoying your Biblical series-please keep them coming! What you discussed in this post on loneliness is so very important for us to remember in these dark days that we are living in. It is so comforting to remember that regardless of what the future holds, God will always be there with us. I cannot imagine going through these crazy times without knowing that-no wonder so many young people today are suicidal. I pray that God would continue to show us (as Christian conservatives) how we can reach them!!!
In one way or another almost everyone important in my life has left and I've been kicked out of the house and haven't been able to pick myself up much. I've been seriously doubting my faith but I can't to the conclusion that since I prayed for and was surrounded by the people I love that it can happen again. This article was a strong reinforcement, thanks Will I've been looking up to you for a while now
I needed this so much. I've had similar thoughts before but, we all need a reminder sometimes. With a renewed perspective and a heart of appreciation thank you! Praying for you!
I was a total loser. Still am in many regards but more so back in the day. I dispised those who wanted an education. I dreamed over living and working in Japan since my first visit years before. A by chance situation happened, serendipitous moment, I walked through university campus without realising it and heard the conversations between students. Right then and there I said I'm a loser until I get my degree, qualify for the JET Programme and move to Japan. 4 years later that happened and I had a blast. I partied hard, did stupid stuff and then I left because I could see my self in 10 years staying the same way whilst my friends built careers. Just so happens I also met my future wife in Japan and eventually moved to Canada Where's she's from. I don't regret the partying but I don't really miss it too much. I wake up each day and I see the smiles on my kid's faces before I turn to rage because they're young and stupid but man, the joy of making something so special after doing some dumb sh!t in your life is incomparable.
I love this article. I really love your use of proverbs 17:17. It's been on my mind for a while. I'm sorry for all your troubles. The best is yet to come.
Thanks for writing this. Thanks for your vulnerability. I believe that as you shine your kind, bright light into the darkness, your impact will continue to grow. Philippians 2:15
"Most forms of loneliness do not come from a total isolation from other people as you would imagine, but instead from being surrounded by people who make you feel apart from God." The issue isn't just being unable to physically be around people, but the FEELING of being alienated whenever the people around you don't share your values, traditions, or interests. In general, most people are apathetic to what truly matters in life; their status in Rocket League, Netflix shows, or seeing the latest TikTok is what has them animated; whereas faith in God, fellowship, being a good individual, the dignity of hard-work, and love for this country animates people like us. I'd say Dennis is right, the greatest need for humanity is meaning, and people will find it in one form or the other for better or worse. The boredom of our time is just the fruit of this.
This is so relevant to so many people. Over the last year, I have been focusing on growing my faith. It definitely makes others uncomfortable. But those are relationships I’m willing to lose... I’m loving the biblical series! 😊
Thanks for sharing your story! God is blessing you and you are a blessing to others! Thanks for your strength in standing for the truth. I pray God will protect you in these dangerous times. What a joy you are!
Thank you for sharing. My 22 yr old son is going thru what you had gone thru. He's a believer and trying to shake his old ways... please keep him in your prayers.
