I have tremendous hope for this country and its people, but I am worried. Throughout all of American history, really all of human history, there have been elites that have done everything in their power to keep the common man down and stifle his growth, creativity, and passion. No matter what happens in this election, this will be the same.
Whoever wins tonight for better or for worse will not change the fact our government and corporate bureaucracy are filled to the brim with evil and conniving people, and thus the elites' avarice, power, and control is not an excuse for your own life. Many people through time have looked at the powers that be and conformed, given in, or pouted and groaned about the current state of affairs without changing anything about the way they live. But there have also been many who have not sat and complained about the corrupt elite, and went out and made their life what they wanted it to be and broke free from the tyranny they were under by sheer force of their own will.
If your life is not where you want it to be, this election will not change that. If your relationships are failing, Kamala will not make that any worse. If you are lonely or anxious, Trump will not fix that for you. If you are unhealthy and continually choose to make unwise decisions, Kamala will not make you unhealthier. If you spend your time watching hours of Netflix and scrolling Instagram reels, Trump will not stop you from doing so. Think about the last eight years and consider, what are the things in my life that have directly been changed by the politics of this country, and what has happened due to my own decisions? 99% of all events that take place in our lives are due to our choices and our choices alone, and thinking all will be fixed or ruined by who becomes president is a convenient way to offload our own responsibilities onto someone else to fix. It is easy to look at politics and think that this next president will be your salvation or doom. It is very difficult to look in the mirror and ask yourself what you could be doing to actually improve your life yourself.
The American people are scared. This country is in a place where the evil and mediocre rise to the top and those who want to live for goodness and truth are beaten down continuously. But did you expect it to be easy? Voting is easy, writing a tweet is easy, putting a sign in your yard is easy. Living your life as a champion and rising above what has been offered to you by the prevalent culture and elite is hard, but it is far more worth it. I understand people may not like this message, and will comment “this is the most important election of our lives,” as we hear every four years. But in reality the most important election of your life is the one that takes place every day when you wake up; the choice to live a life of purpose and meaning, or the choice to live a life of conformity and mediocrity and have the years slip by.
This post is not “doomer” or “blackpill,” far from it actually. I have great faith in this country and the people who live in it, but my faith doesn’t stem from what I see happening in this election. It comes from knowing who the American people are with their courage, their strength, their adaptability, their faith, their integrity, and their will to triumph over any foe, internal or external, and come out stronger and smarter than when they went in.
So vote today! Enjoy your right as an American citizen and fight for what is good, but at the end of the day, remember that you are the ultimate arbiter in deciding what your life is despite any evil elites or great presidents who may be in control. Imagine if all the American people discovered the power they have, and not just the power those in politics have, and what we as a nation could truly accomplish.
